Product Description
What is Propecia?

Finasteride 5mg is used as a treatment of benign prostate enlargement (BPE), while Finasteride 1mg is used for treating male pattern baldness (MPB). In the former case the treatment causes the prostate to shrink in size and all the symptoms subside, while when prescribed to MPB, the medication stops hair loss and in substantial percentage of the cases even promotes hair re-growth.

What should I tell my doctor before I use Generic Propecia?

When considering a Finasteride treatment, inform your healthcare provider if you have:

  • liver or kidney diseases
  • prostate cancer
  • allergies to Finasteride or any of the inactive ingredients of the medication

If you are about to have a blood test known as PSA done, tell your doctor that you are taking Finasteride as it might affect the results. This medication is for men only and pregnant women should not take it under any circumstances and should not handle broken or crashed tablets.

How should I take this medication?

Finasteride is an oral medication that should be taken with a full glass of water. Do not crush the tablets as this destroys their protective coating and do not take larger dose than the prescribed. In the case of overdosing or severe side effects, seek medical help as soon as possible.

What drugs may interact with this medication?

Listed below are some of the medications that are known to react with Finasteride:

  • certain blood pressure medications
  • male hormones
  • soy isoflavones supplements
  • saw palmetto

However, the list is not complete and before you start using Finasteride, you should inform your doctor of all prescription and non-prescription medications that you are using, as well as all natural supplements, dietary pills, or illegal substances that you are taking as they might interact with Finasteride.

What should I be aware of while taking this medication?

It is important to know that Finasteride is an extremely effective treatment of MPB and BPE, but the treatment is long and perseverance and discipline is required - in some cases, the results are visible six months after the commencement of the treatment. Do not donate blood while on Finasteride and six months after the discontinuation of the treatment.

What are the possible side effects?

This medication is safe and approved by the FDA and the side effects that it causes affect only a small percentage of the patients taking it. The most common of them are:

  • abnormal ejaculation
  • decreased ejaculatory volume
  • abnormal sexual function
  • testicular pain
  • erectile dysfunction

This is a pregnancy category X medication and should be kept away from pregnant women, especially if the protective coating is broken!

How should I store my medication?
Store the Finasteride tablets in their original package, in a dry place, away from the reach of children, and at temperatures that range from 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit (15 to 30 degrees Celsius). Dispose of the unused tablets that are past their expiration date according to your country and local regulations.
