i have serious thighs and am really self-conscious when i wear my riding breeches…is there anything i can ride English in besides them?
or any reason not to feel self-conscious?

If you really want to wear jods you can get some flattering colours now. I wear two tone ones that have the darker colour on the outside panel to make thighs look slimmer and longer.

Is it really necessary to wear breeches or jodphurs for horseback riding, and why? Do both girls and guys have to wear them or why should they?

Wearing tight fitting clothing keeps the clothing from rubbing on your skin. It stays in place when something is rubbing against your skin. This keeps you from getting rubbed raw and/or blisters.

The tight fitting clothing acts as a "second skin".

I’d say your gender has nothing to do with it.

I’m going to buy riding breeches from amazon but the sizes are in R does that mean like size 10 is the same as 10R?

The R mean regular length. and L will mean long. I wish some came in S for short, but I have yet to find any… (I am 5′2"… often have breeches that are too long!)

The sizes are normally in increments of 2" and they are the circumference of your waist. For an example, if your waist is 26" round, you are a size 26.

I get excited about wearing the complete equestrian show attire.
I end up masturbating after wearing this attire.

I enjoy wearing a black riding coat, white dress shirt, tight white breeches, and of course tall black shiny leather dressage boots.

I think I look really good in this attire. I am not bothered if people think I look silly wearing equestrian attire. I only do this at a tack shop or at the stables.

Would you wear riding tights under your breeches or do you wear them in place of breeches or jods?

I have seen riding tights as summer breeches. I suppose you could put them under breeches for warmth, but I just use long underwear like silk ones for skiing. I would worry about rubbing and too much bulk with the riding tights.
