I am going to start horseback riding and am not sure what pants I need to wear. It is cold where I live now. I was wondering if I should buy riding tights, breeches, or jodphurs(i’m 14)? Also if you have any other helpful information for a begining rider like me please tell me. Thanks ahead of time.

you will want a jacket (not too long), breeches/jeans (depending your sport), and paddock/tall boots. if you get paddock boots, you’ll want half chaps to prevent your legs from getting pinched by the stirrup leathers and chaps are grippier. you don’t want a jacket too long or else it will get caught under your body when you ride, and it can be annoying.

Anyone wear tall equestrian riding boots for streetwear?

On an impulse I bought a pair of used tall ridingboots )without the laces). They are REALLY broken in. Am I alone in wearing them for just street wear? Also since they are so soft I lke to wear them barefoot.

what are the best brands for riding apparel and tack?

like what brands are best for every day use and show ^^
i.e. whats the best helmet that i can use every day and whats the best helmets that i can use for show (every disapline)

i need to know for all kinds of apparel & tack
helmets, gloves, boots, breeches, half chaps, show coats, saddles, bridles, saddle pads, crops, dressage whips, horse boots ect. ect.

^^ im planning to save my money to get the optimal stuff hehe

go for Ariat, they are by far the comfiest boots ever and they have a lot of different stuff

and also Roeckl gloves, omg they’re amazing, so comfy, fits your hand perfectly, not big and clumsy like other gloves, they dont have a website but go to your local Mary’s Tack or somthing like it and they’ll probly have it

What brand name of riding breeches should I buy for schooling?

I am petite and like both full seat and knee patches. I want breeches that are all cotton with a bit of stretch and are cool. I just about sweltered in my Kerrits. I just want something simple and cool for schooling

I love Dublin. Get them on Dover closeout for around $20-40. They last forever, are thick enough to be warmish in the winter, but really cool in the summer. They come in both knee patch and full seat. Devon-aire won’t last long though.

Were should i get my horse riding things from? I live in basildon. By the way basildon is in essex. I mean i have lot’s f horse riding clothes BUT i like a bit of a horsey shope!

I’m assuming you will be riding school horses.
In that case, tack will be supplied (unless they’re cheapos, but I’ve never heard of that)

However, I’ve never heard of a school that doesn’t provide the apparel necessities!
Most schools provide helmets and some also provide boots for free, although they are usually horrible and over-used ugly looking things.
However, if you do want to buy your own clothing, I strongly suggest a helmet comes first.

The helmets at riding schools are used frequently and have been through alot of bad accidents!
Did you know you need to change your helmet after 1 or 2 falls? Although you may not notice, helmets crack on the inside when shocked. The inner protective layer (usually made out of hard plastic of fibre glass) is made to absorb the impact but that doesn’t mean it’s going to last forever!

When buying a helmet, if you read the guide (sometimes written on the box itself) it recommends replacing the helmet after a fall.

I personally wouldn’t trust any riding school helmet, but that’s just me.

My suggestion is to buy your own. Helmet first, boots second, joddies third. That’s the order I believe it should be in.
Helmets aren’t relatively expensive. You can buy accredited helmets for under $100.
