and yes in the true …
and yes in the true Spanish riding school many exercises are done without stirrups. These riders in this show are often crude in their aids to the horse and they don’t sit their horses as well as the cream of the crop riders from the Vienna School. Riding without stirrups would help improve that.. Good riders but not “Excellent”.
I had tickets for …
I had tickets for Sunday in Charlotte to what I thought was the World Famous Lipizzaner from Vienna. I just found out that this is not what it appears to be. Still beautiful horses and probably a great show but not The World Famous ones and I am not sure how these horses are trained. I know the Vienna School is top notch and they treat the animals fantastic, don’t know about this show and who runs it. I canceled the tickets. I don’t like to be misled! Stop using “World Famous” it’s misleading!
This is very …
This is very misleading. Most people from the name “World Famous”, think this is the Spanish Riding School tour from Vienna. It ain’t. Far from the original, this is a domestic attempt to copy the SRS, with mostly female riders. (Only two women have made the riding team in Vienna in 500 years). The horses are, indeed, Lips, and the riders are decent. So I guess it’s like going to see an Elvis impersonator: not the real thing, but a fair illusion.
wow, i kinda feel …
wow, i kinda feel sorry for the old footsoldiers of the past, i would NOT like to come up against a capriole in battle
im pretty sure the …
im pretty sure the spanish riding school horses are probs The MOST spoiled horses on the planet.
BTW, riders of the …
BTW, riders of the Spanish Riding School don’t use stirrups, so you can tell that this is not a show from the Spanish Riding School in Austria.
I’ve been to the …
I’ve been to the breeding facility in Piber, Austria. Trust me, these horses are definitely NOT abused. Their stalls are immaculate, they get plenty of turnout with beautiful, lush pastures for grazing, there are people there who attend to their every need. Did you know that they only have one rider? If that rider dies or retires, the horse is also retired. No other rider uses that horse (I’m talking about the Spanish riding school horses in Austria, not the touring horses of North America.)
I’m so sorry to …
I’m so sorry to hear that! I hope he gets a really good home, or better yet, that things work out so he can stay with you!
oh thank you very …
oh thank you very much but sadly i dont have years now because we are goign to have to probley sell him
but he is a very clever boy
No, funkyfriends, …
No, funkyfriends, they’re not unhappy. It’s tough to get an unhappy horse to perform unless you break its spirit, which, aside from being cruel, would make a Lipizzaner useless as a showhorse.
Your horse doesn’t …
Your horse doesn’t have to be bred a Lipizzaner to learn these movements, but it sure helps if he’s clever! And even-tempered. And motivated. And strong… I could go on… But my point is that it can take a Lipizzaner stallion years to master each of these. If you’re willing to put years of work, patience, and diligence into the training, you should be able to get him to do most of what these stallions do in their shows.
those horses …
those horses LOVE their job. they are treated like absolute gold. i’m so i missed them at madison square garden!!! the riders are some of the most talented in the world and those are some of the most well behaved stallions in the world. i can’t imagine training them. sooo gorgeous. we have a friesian but he’s only starting dressage.i hope he can turn out like these boys!
FunkyFriends… …
FunkyFriends…you’re an idiot. If you knew anything about horses you would know that just because their ears are back doesn’t mean they’re angry or unhappy. They are listening to their handler that is BEHIND them. And their tails swish because its natural for them when crossing over…look up some facts
these horses look …
these horses look sad, you can see it in their eyes
I HATE seeing …
I HATE seeing video’s like this. People here do not understand how they feel! Look at their ears, straight back. Completely unhappy. Look at their tails, swishing them unhappily. People do this for money, i don’t even know whether they know that the horses hate this anyway. Their mouths are being tugged at all the times. Horrible. Disgusting really.
Horrible video, because allit makes me do is feel sorry for the horses.
To Weanamadi what …
To Weanamadi what you have said is very true saw them when they came to Sydney Australia most of the so called stallions are mares and gelding they all had puffy fetlocks and legs non horse people love it but in the horse crowd they were the laughing stock of Sydney equestrian scene
Sorry to disappoint …
Sorry to disappoint you, but this show is nothing like the Lippizzans of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. These are not riders of the Spanish Riding School and the show has nothing on the Originals. The movements are poorly performed, half the horses aren’t even Lippizzans. Don’t believe because you’ve seen this show that you’ve see the actual Lippizzans perform. Dare to compare to a video of the SRS and see for yourself.
No, there’s really …
No, there’s really only that many. They were slaughtered in WWII by the Soviet Union for horse meat, and they almost became extinct. Now there’s only about 3,000 left…they’re trying to bring them back x)

They just stayed the night at the barn I work at (after a performance). They are very well behaved, and pretty funny. There’s one named “Oda” who is the lead stallion and the coolest of them all. Check out my channel for videos of them while they were here.
